Derek Boogaard Found Dead In His Residence

Derek Boogaard, a Canadian ice hockey winger was found dead in mysterious circumstances in his residence on Friday. Though, no further details are available in relation to the death of Boggard but medical examiner of Minneapolis is still investigating the case.

The New York Rangers are really shocked by the sad demise of Derek. The president and general manager of Glen Sather, New York Rangers commented that Derek was the kind natured man and will really be missed by all of his fans, family and friends. He extended his sympathies to the family, relatives and friends of derrick.

Don Fehr, Executive Director of National Hockey League Players' Association too has extended his deep sympathy on the passing away of Derek Boggard. He further said that Derek was the respectful member of the NHPLA and his uncertain death will be a great loss to the hockey association.

It is to mention that Boggard started his National hockey League career with Minnesota wild in 2005. He played near about 255 games for the association. Later in 2010, Derek joined new York rangers and played near about 22 games for them.

Besides this, Boggard extended his duties to numerous charitable communities working for noble cause in the society. He was also the member of the Defending the Blue Line Foundation, an NGO. To further accentuate this social working he created a non-profit charitable foundation, Boogaard's Booguardians in collaboration with New York Rangers. Manpreet Badal: A Politician Who Drives

One recent morning, Manpreet Singh Badal journeyed from Punjab's capital, Chandigarh, to the small town of Tarn Taran to give a speech at a political rally. Normally, an Indian public official of his stature – he recently stepped down as Punjab's finance minister and is still a state legislator – would have a chauffeur, a red beacon atop his car, and a mini-motorcade of security people and other hangers-on.

But Mr. Badal will have none of it. He hopped in a Toyota Fortuner SUV and did the four-hour drive himself without those fancy trappings. The 48-year-old, who was on a state-wide tour to promote a new political party to contest next year's assembly polls in Punjab, has pledged that if he comes to power as chief minister he would rein in the VIP culture that has become commonplace in Punjabi and Indian politics.

Just about everyone in government in Punjab, he says, from mid-level bureaucrats to senior ministers, feel entitled to VIP treatment, and their displays of excess–such as turning on the red lights on their cars to circumvent traffic–have fueled resentment among citizens at a time when the state is facing great economic challenges.

"Politicians should behave like normal people," he says. "Red lights are meant for police and ambulances and fire brigades — for emergencies."

It's not that Mr. Badal has common-man roots. He's from a powerful family that has become a dynasty in Punjabi politics and owns a 250-acre tangerine farm. He has had some prestigious schooling both in India and in London and quotes the likes of Turkish founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Julius Caesar in conversation. But he's found issues, like a VIP culture that's run amok, that resonate with the common man and he has become a leading champion of reforms to get Punjab out of an economic funk and a crippling debt crisis.

Trinamool chief, Mamata Banerjee, spoke at a rally in Kolkata in July last year.

Before she launched a highly-publicized campaign against the Tata Motors Nano factory in Singur, West Bengal,  Mamata Banerjee received little coverage at the national level, and even less outside the country. But whenever she did crop up in the news, there was a certain quality that ran through all her public appearances.

In 1996, papers reported that Ms. Banerjee, who is known as Didi or big sister, had threatened to strangle herself with her shawl at a political rally in protest at a deal between her then-party, Congress, and the Communists.

The following year, she was briefly expelled from the lower house of Parliament for charging at a minister when she didn't like his response to a question she had asked, the Business Standard reported. For good measure, she threw her shawl at the speaker upon being expelled.
