Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Exam is conducted every year by the Kerala Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) for the admission to degree level Courses. KEAM 2011 was held on 19.04.2011, 10 am to 12.30 pm.

Chief Mentor: What Venture Capitalists Want

A venture capitalist will, on average, receive hundreds, if not thousands, of business plans every year, but just a handful make it to a detailed review and even fewer get funding.

Investment decisions vary from one venture capitalist to another. To a large extent, they depend on the portfolio the venture capitalist is building. Still, there are a few things that every venture capitalist would like to see in a business plan.

Based on my interaction with investors and entrepreneurs, I have compiled a list of points that can increase the chances of getting support for a business plan:

Idea, its Viability and Sustainability: The most important ingredient of a business plan is the idea.  The combination of a unique idea and an identified and expanding market is something that interests every investor. The entrepreneur should be able to prove how to make the idea viable and sustainable, and include an execution plan and timelines for achieving major milestones. A venture capitalist would be much more comfortable funding a venture if it is clear how the money will be spent.

Progress till date: A venture capitalist is always more interested in projects where some groundwork has already been done. If you have a running prototype of the business, share the data on investment, customers, revenues, products, services and challenges faced. This would give a fair idea about the returns the venture capitalist can expect from an investment. Generally, businesses that are up and running, or even pilot projects, have a greater chance of attracting funding than plans that have yet to take off.

The Team and Business: A venture capitalist would like to see and meet the people who will actually handle an investment. To some venture capitalists, the people are more important than the plan itself because market conditions might change, meaning the [...]

Viswaroopam is an upcoming trilingual film, directed by Selvaraghavan starring Kamal Hassan, Sonakshi Sinha and Shriya Saran in lead roles . The film will be releasing in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

The shooting will start in mid-April in Hyderabad and Chennai, followed by a schedule in London. The shooting will be completed in 100 days in a single schedule.

Since the movie is a trilingual, in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, Kamal had suggested Selva to work with Shankar-Eshaan-Loy for scoring the music as the trio are the leading music directors up North.

Now the latest news abuzz is that, the team is traveling to London for a period of 35 days where the duet sequences between Kamal Hassan and Sonakshi Sinha and romance scenes between the duo will be shot.

While the crew is busy over their next schedule, Sonakshi is all smiles about the shoot since this would help her do away with the rumours that are spreading like wildfire about her all over Bollywood.

Arundhati Roy on Indian Democracy, Maoists

Writer and activist Arundhati Roy, winner of the 1997 Man Booker prize for "The God of Small Things," is undoubtedly India's iconoclast no.1. During the launch of her two latest books—"Broken Republic" and "Walking With the Comrades" —on Friday evening, she came to the defence of the military tactics of India's Maoists in her polemical best:

"When you have 800 CRPF [Central Reserve Police Force, a paramilitary force deployed to fight country's internal insurgencies] marching three days into the forest; surrounding a forest village and burning it and raping women, what are the poor supposed to do? Can the hungry go on a hunger strike? Can people who have no money boycott goods? What sort of civil disobedience we are asking them to adhere to?"

She backpedaled a little saying: "But at the same time what goes on in the forest in terms of resistance cannot go on outside the forest."

In "Walking With the Comrades," Ms. Roy recounts time she spent last year in the forest with the banned Maoist insurgents, who are active in large swathes of central and eastern India. In "Broken Republic," she writes about the character of Indian democracy. Both books are published by Penguin India.
