Meerut 30 People Injured in Mosque Clash

A Communal Clash over a cleric in a mosque being roughed up led to at least 30 people including 10 policemen being injured police here said Monday.Seventeen people have been detained.Violence erupted late Sunday in Qazipur village after a group of youngsters allegedly manhandled the imam of a local mosque.In protest some members of the Muslim community took to the streets torched several commercial establishments and roadways buses.

As the news spread tension gripped other areas with members of both communities indulging in vandalism, arson and pelting stones at each other.When prevented members of the warring groups also attacked policemen in Zakir Colony and set a police outpost on fire.Police had to use teargas to disperse the protesters.

We have detained 17 people for their involvement in communal clash Superintendent of Police Prabal Pratap Singh said in Meerut some 500 km from Lucknow.Investigations are being carried out to ascertain whether the clash was pre planned by some anti social elements he added.

IGP Rajnikant Mishra told As of now the situation is completely under control.Senior police officials and district administration officials are camping at places that witnessed the clashes.According to officials police forces have been deployed at various places to prevent any further flare up.

Hyderabad, April 24: Spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba has passed away at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, where he was hospitalised for 27 days.


According to Sri Sathya Sai Trust, the Baba passed away at 7.40 am. The body will be kept in state at Sai Kulwant hall in Prashanti Nilayam, the abode of the Baba, for two days for lakhs of his devotees to pay homage.


Sri Sathya Sai Baba was hospitalised on March 28 following problems related to heart and respiration. All efforts of doctors to revive Baba failed.


Sri Sathya Sai Baba stood for unity of all religions and his service extends to millions of people. Among notable charitable works undertaken by the trust include drinking water supply to parched villages in Andhra Pradesh, free superspeciality medical facilities to the poor and top class education.

Chennai vs Pune today in IPL 2011 29th match clash

Chennai Super Kings will clash with team Pune Warriors today in the 29th clash of the Indian Premier league 2011 season 4.

At present both teams are among bottom 5, but also they have played least number of matches. Chennai have played five while Pune only 4 matches.

This clash will decide their spot in the points table – as the opportunities are still their after this clash to move up upto top of the table.
