According to the NHC, Irene is still a solid Category 1 with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph and remains an immediate threat to east Virginia, Delaware, and all low laying regions on the coast or near waterways as far west as DC.While Irene is a strong category 2 Hurricane, most of her damage will be inflicted upon the area of initial impact, in this case the Outer Banks of North Carolina, a 130-mile sandbar jutting into the Atlantic completely vulnerable to the extreme tidal surge these strong storms bring ashore. Let's hope everyone gets through this weekend unscathed.

The worst part for surfers, Irene isn't lining up to be an all time swell generator. Florida looks to reap the benefits of the biggest surf as the storm passes and wind clocks, but most of the East Coast will be fortunate to luck a quick post storm cleanup session before the waves disappear with the hard offshore winds. Irene is expected to move over warm, 80° F or better waters in the next few hours and could remain a hurricane all the way past New Jersey to landfall early tomorrow near Long Island, NY. Government agrees to Anna's 3 key demands, Anna hazare Fast will end on 28th August 2011 at 10 am, Indian Parliament passes resolution on Lokpal Bill

New Delhi: The eight-hour long extraordinary debate on the Lokpal issue Saturday ended with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee expressing "a broad sense of the house" that includes an in-principle acceptance of three key demands of Anna Hazare by the Lok Sabha.

There was, however, neither any resolution nor a voice vote that was expected at the end of the debate, just desk-thumping by members drawn from all parties.

These included an agreement on the citizens' charter, the bringing of the lower bureaucracy under the Lokpal and the setting up of Lokayuktas in the state.

Mukherjee, also leader of the house, made it clear that the outcome of the proceedings will be submitted to the parliamentary standing committee examining the Lokpal bill. The standing committee will bring a revised legislation to the house, he said.
