3 happiness paths.

Are you doing any or all of these?
• Feeling good. Seeking pleasurable emotions and sensations, from the hedonistic model of happiness put forth by Epicurus, which focused on reaching happiness by maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain.

• Engaging fully. Pursuing activities that engage you fully, from the influential research by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. For decades, Csikszentmihalyi explored people's satisfaction in their everyday activities, finding people report the greatest satisfaction when they are totally immersed in and concentrating on what they are doing — he dubbed this state of absorption "flow."

• Doing good. Searching for meaning outside yourself, tracing back to Aristotle's notion of eudaemonia, which emphasized knowing your true self and acting in accordance with your virtues.

Mata mobbed on Valencia return

If Chelsea's Juan Mata feared what kind of reception he would get on his return to Valencia, they were allayed after he was mobbed at the airport on Wednesday.

But Mata knows he will be the enemy on Wednesday when he walks out at the Mestalla in Chelsea's Champions League Group E game against his former club.
Good friend and Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez has already said as much and those sentiments where echoed by Mata on Tuesday night.
"Pablo is a very good friend of mine but, after the kick-off, that's where fr [...]

Britain Will Never Again Be A Military Superpower

British Army Will Never Again Be Among Military Superpowers, Report Claims -- The Guardian

Thinktank says cuts and Trident plan will leave black hole in finances, but UK will still be able to assist in operations like Libya

Britain's shrinking military will "never again be among the global superpowers" but will have enough capability to assist in operations such as Libya and Afghanistan in the future, a study said on Tuesday.

However, the MoD's finances will be capsized and its resources further diminished unless there is a substantial increase in defence spending to cover the "looming" costs of the replacement for the Trident nuclear deterrent.

Will British Defense Cuts Lead To The Lost Of The Falklands?

Boost UK Defence Spending Or Lose The Falklands, Warn Military Grandees -- The Guardian

Report by ex-armed forces chiefs call for 50% rise in military spending to offset potential threats

The UK needs to pour billions more into defence spending to counter future threats if the country is to avoid "expensive and possibly catastrophic mistakes" caused by under-funding, a report warns.

One of the report's authors said the Falkland Islands are a "plum ripe for the picking" should Argentina, with the support of its ally China, choose to contest British claims to sovereignty.

My Comment: For the British government .... the budget crisis is a far more important issue than security for the Falklands. Losing the Falklands is a risk that they are willing to take.
